Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item can be improved by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components

Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and most require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others provide general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. The universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be placed on any equipment, and offer less than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right side of the screen. It will display the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will read Blocked if you do not have enough of either.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the number of upgrade components needed for an item. The cost of upgrading increases with the level and rarity of the item. However, you can reduce the cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant or trading them with other players.
The majority of weapons can be upgraded by adding a prefix, like a rune or an insignia, and others can be upgraded with a suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to convey visual information. They animate in order to grab the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, which makes them more effective in communicating a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph increases a stat's value by a specific amount. This is shown on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at the glyph can increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the product you are in awe of.
The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items can't be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your equipment, you can transfer it to another piece of equipment by utilizing the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
If you wish to remove a glyph from an item, you will need to save it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in, but you can recover the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards, so this should not be considered a loss.
When you take away an item after putting a glyph on it, the shards that are part of the glyph will vanish. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly rather than all at one time. This can be helpful for those who take a lot of damage from enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes on weapons and equipment. item upgrader Casesgg can be obtained from various sources, including mysterious boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an unspecified affix, which is generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the upgrade menu, however they are still eligible to receive upgrades. By pressing the "upgrade button" you can recycle these rerolled items. This will alter the appearance of the window for the item and let up to six items be chosen to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. The reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive, and it would be more reasonable to let players pay for it using money or food items which would allow them to change their build without a lot of time and effort. However paying for rerolls is not something that the developers would like to incorporate at this point in the game's development. They plan to add the ability for players to alter their race in the future.
Leveling
There are a number of ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first method of leveling up an upgrade for an item is by increasing the upgrade amount. This increases the value of upgrading any stat. The alternative is to increase the impact of the upgrade, which increases damage or healing for the stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. When this is done the new item will retain its iLevel but it will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded item type.

If you're fortunate, your upgraded item may reach the maximum level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional effect. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect is different with each upgrade level. In general the effect of upgrading is increased by a value of +3.
The iLevel can also change depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For example an item that has been upgraded from being a scarce or exclusive item to an extraordinary one will have the chance to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
